I had a friend who lived overseas in a hot climate for a number of years
She loved the lifestyle and the temperatures
But what drew her back to England
Was the need to experience the seasons once again
She missed the really obvious transitions from one season to the next
I can understand that
I love Spring; the fresh hope and joy that it brings,
But equally I am quite fond of Autumn.
Spring is about starting something new,
Autumn is about shedding what has been
That process of letting go can be heart breaking
But can also ultimately propel you forward
There is something incredibly bitter sweet about autumn,
The gradual colour changes creep in, the trees are at their most vibrant
Then all the leaves are gone
Forming piles to kick through on the ground
When the colour goes everything becomes quite bleak
The spiky branches can seem prohibitive
Almost foreboding, before life breaks through again
There is a season for everything!
Although not every season of our life is comfortable
What would happen if we tried to skip a season?
Would be as well rounded?
Would we be as wise?
What do you want to let go of this autumn?
